Sis, if you’re here reading this, I want you to know one thing: you’re not alone.
Maybe you’ve whispered, "Why can’t I stop?" or "I don’t want to want it anymore."
Maybe you’ve poured that glass out of habit, out of stress, or out of pain… only to feel worse afterward.
This isn’t about shame or labels. This is about grace.
And there is so much grace for you here.
Below are 20 Scriptures that have helped me and countless women like you walk this path with more courage and peace. These verses are anchors when your emotions feel unsteady and reminders that God sees your struggle and meets you right there in it.
Let this list be your lifeline when the urge hits or when regret creeps in. You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to keep showing up.
1. 1 Peter 5:7 (NIV) "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."
You don’t have to carry the pressure of your cravings, emotions, or expectations alone. God is already holding space for you. Just hand it over.
2. Romans 7:15 (NIV) "I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do."
This verse gives words to the inner war. If you feel stuck in a cycle, you’re not alone. God understands, and He offers a way through.
3. 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV) "But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.'"
Your weakness is not the end of the story. God’s strength shows up exactly where you feel the most inadequate.
4. Psalm 34:18 (NIV) "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
God doesn’t turn away from your pain. He sees it and draws near to you.
5. Isaiah 41:10 (NIV) "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
You are not doing this alone. God is actively holding you up, even when you feel shaky.
6. Romans 12:2 (NIV) "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."
Change doesn’t start with rules. It starts with how you think, what you believe, and who you trust. And God is guiding that renewal.
7. Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV) "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
You don’t have to figure it all out. When you surrender, He straightens the path forward.
8. Psalm 46:1 (NIV) "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble."
God isn’t distant. He is present in your moment of need. He is your safe place.
9. Lamentations 3:22-23 (NIV) "Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."
You get a fresh start every morning. No guilt. Just grace.
10. Matthew 11:28 (NIV) "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
You don’t have to strive anymore. There’s rest waiting for you in God’s presence.
11. 2 Timothy 1:7 (NIV) "For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline."
You were not created to be ruled by fear or habit. You were made to walk in power and peace.
12. Galatians 5:1 (NIV) "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery."
You were made for freedom. You don’t have to go back to what once controlled you.
13. John 14:27 (NIV) "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."
The peace you’re looking for isn’t in a glass. It’s already been given from Jesus through the Holy Spirit.
14. Ephesians 6:10 (NIV) "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power."
You don’t have to rely on your own strength. His is more than enough.
15. Isaiah 43:19 (NIV)"See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland."
God is working in the background of your life. Even in dry seasons, He is making a way.
16. Philippians 4:13 (NIV) "I can do all this through him who gives me strength."
Yes, even this. Even tonight. You’re not doing it alone.
17. Psalm 139:1-2 (NIV) "You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar."
God knows the thoughts you don’t say out loud. He’s not surprised. He stays.
18. Hebrews 4:15-16 (NIV) "For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are, yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence."
You are not too messy for God. He walked this earth so we could approach the throne of grace and receive understanding.
19. James 4:8 (NIV) "Come near to God and he will come near to you."
God moves toward you as soon as you turn toward Him. Every single time.
20. Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) "'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'"
This isn’t the end of your story. Hope is still on the table.
